About MyTaxLocker & MaxLeaf

MyTaxLocker is an Android app that reads your Form 16 on your device and prepares a ready-to-upload ITR-1 or ITR-4 JSON — so you can upload it yourself to the official Income Tax e-Filing portal without retyping a single figure.

Who builds it

MyTaxLocker is built by MaxLeaf, an Indian software company that designs and develops consumer apps. MaxLeaf is the company behind the product; MyTaxLocker is the brand you see and use. The company is based in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, India, and you can reach the team at support@maxleaf.in.

The problem we set out to solve

For most salaried people, the figures needed to prepare a return already exist on the Form 16 their employer issues. But moving those numbers into the right schedules by hand is fiddly and error-prone — gross salary, exempt allowances, the standard deduction, Chapter VI-A deductions and TDS all have to land in the right place. MyTaxLocker reads those figures from your Form 16 for you and lays them out for review, so preparing your return is about checking, not typing.

How it works

• 1. Add your Form 16. MyTaxLocker reads Part A and Part B of your Form 16 on your device — the document does not need to be uploaded anywhere for it to be read.
• 2. Review. Every figure is laid out across simple steps for you to check and correct, and your tax is computed under both the Old and New regime so you can compare.
• 3. Get a ready-to-upload JSON. The app prepares a ready-to-upload ITR-1 or ITR-4 JSON (and a tax computation sheet) that you upload yourself to the official Income Tax e-Filing portal. MyTaxLocker does not file or submit anything on your behalf.

Privacy-first by design

Your Form 16 is parsed on your device. Sensitive personal fields — PAN, Aadhaar, mobile number and bank details — are protected with AES-256 field-level encryption using a key that stays on your device. There are no ads and no third-party trackers. You can set an optional biometric app lock, and you can delete your account and data from within the app at any time. Data is hosted in India (AWS Mumbai region), and release builds are hardened with ProGuard/R8.

Not affiliated with the government

MyTaxLocker is independent software by MaxLeaf. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Income Tax Department, CBDT, or any government body. The app helps you prepare a return for your own review and upload; the actual upload to the official portal is always done by you.
